Tucked away on the rugged Delimara peninsula in Malta's south-east, just beyond the better-known St Peter's Pool, Il-Kalanka is a small, untouched bay reached by a short stepped path of around 50 metres. At the bottom you'll find a natural swimming spot framed by low limestone cliffs and crystal-clear, deep turquoise water. It's one of the quietest corners of the south — even at weekends there's usually room for a peaceful swim, a snorkel along the rocky edges, or a cliff jump (the drops here are higher than at St Peter's Pool, so take care). There are no facilities and parking is limited but free, so bring water, food, and a pair of water shoes — the rocks can be sharp.
